Introducing the Kaiser Baas x450 action camera
Christmas came early for me this year when I was given the Kaiser Baas X450 action camera and some accessories to try out and capture my adventures with. So far, I’m very impressed with the camera, I’m loving the upgrade from my lame old GoPro Hero3!
Kaiser Baas is a New Zealand company whose main offering is a great range of action cameras. The company also have a bunch of accessories and other products like gimbals, drones and electric scooters. I love supporting a business that’s come from New Zealand and I can’t wait to show off what it can do.
The x450 shoots stills at 14MP, 4k video at 30fps, 120fps on 720p video to allow for excellent slow motion, gyroscope image stabilization and has a large full-colour LCD touch screen. The Kaiser Baas external housing allows you to take the camera up to 40m whereas the GoPro only withstands up to 10m. Basically, it has excellent specs for an affordable, high-quality action camera.

Skeleton Frame - protects the camera and can be attached to accessories without fully enclosing the camera
Bike Mount - attach the camera to your bike’s handlebars
Adhesive Mounts - sticky mounts to attach it to a flat surface
Quick Release J Mount - not entirely sure, I guess it makes it easier to attach and remove it quickly
3-Way Mounts - allows you to attach things on different angles I think
USB Cable - connects the camera to a charger or computer
Camera Case - fits all the accessories, or the camera with a few extra accessories
1/4” Tripod Adapter - this allows you to attach the camera to a standard tripod as you would a normal camera
Safety Straps - provide extra security when you use them
Waterproof Case - perhaps the most important accessory, this allows you to take the camera underwater and adds protection from any environment
Most box-shaped action cameras nowadays have accessories that are compatible with other action cams, so if you already have GoPro accessories, or have bought some cheap imitations from eBay then you’ll be able to use them with the Kaiser Baas. On top of the accessories that the camera came with, I have a carbon float grip, tripod grip, float brick and surfboard mount from Kaiser Baas and some other no-brand accessories that I bought in a Grabone deal years ago but hardly ever use, like a chest strap and head strap. With all of these I’ll be able to have some serious adventures!
