2016 Highlights

2016 has been a tumultuous year for me; I left an amazing job and great new friends behind to try my luck in Melbourne, then ran out of luck when I was made redundant BUT managed to score a great new job in Auckland and so I moved back home for it. It's been pretty hectic, but all in all it's been an incredible year and I had the best time. I also managed to squeeze in a fair bit of travel!

Here are my top 5 moments of 2016:

5. Making Melbourne my home

If I were to live anywhere else in the world, it would have to be Melbourne. I'm a little biased because I had a whole 6 months to fall in love with the city, but it really is incredible. It has that certain je ne sais quoi that can't really be explained, you just have to live it. Check out my highlights video:

4. Jumping off Cloud 9 into the clearest water I've ever seen in Fiji

I love jumping off things (into water), and Cloud 9 was the perfect height for bombing into the clearest blue water I've ever swam in. It was the highlight of my trip to Fiji, it just felt like falling into a big ball of blue, and the temperature was perfecto.

3. Holding a snake in Bali

I think my favourite part of this was seeing Holly's face in the pictures later. I really loved travelling with one of my best friends, I wish I could do it more often!

2. Scoring a free trip with work to Samoa

When the radio station I was working at first started talking about taking some winners with the breakfast show to Samoa to watch the Joseph Parker fight, I jokingly said I'd take one for the team and go along. We all kinda did, but when they said that they actually wanted the web girl to go along I was so excited! We had an awesome time, working long hours in 30+ heat and shitty internet was worth spending 5 days in Samoa.

1. Rediscovering my love for New Zealand

When I took the job back in Auckland and had to move home I was pretty upset at first. I really wanted to live in Melbourne for a while and explore more of Australia. But everything happens for a reason and as I prepared to move back I started thinking about what a stunning country NZ is, and how I can make the most of it. So I'm back in NZ for the foreseeable future, get ready to see a lot more greenery on this blog, a lot more outdoorsy stuff, a lot more videos, of course, plenty of travel stuff!
